Newbuilds assembly
As part of the GATX Rail Europe Group, we manufacture underframes and assemble new tank wagons, including:
- LPG tank wagons,
- mineral oil tank wagons
- specialised chemical tank wagons made of carbon steel or stainless steel
Thanks to our high level of flexibility, we are able to deliver both large-scale projects involving several hundred wagons and small series of customised designs.
We are the facility that prepared a.o. over 1,000 multifunctional 119 m3 LPG tank wagons for GATX.
Wagon revisions and repairs
As ECM 4, we carry out maintenance activities and inspections of freight wagons up to and including level P5 / G 4.0. The scope of inspections covers the underframe, braking system, bogies and wheelsets. All works are performed in accordance with the VPI Maintenance Guide or other customer-specific Maintenance System Documentation.
We specialise in inspections and repairs of tank wagons. For this reason, we also provide L- and P-level tank testing in accordance with RID, carried out with the participation of an external surveyor from an authorised body (TDT / TÜV). In addition, we perform inspections of tanks used for the transport of powdered bulk products, such as cement or purified terephthalic acid (PTA).
In order to minimise wagon downtime at our facility, we carry out in-house repair and reconditioning of the majority of components, both underframe- and tank-related (see: Refurbishment of wagon components).
We perform comprehensive wagon repairs, including specialised works such as surface welding, weld seam repairs, installation of welded repair plates, as well as non-destructive testing.
In addition to works carried out as part of scheduled inspections and the restoration of full operational readiness, we also offer, upon customer request:
- improvement of the internal condition of the tank (shot blasting or glass bead blasting),
- protection of internal tank surfaces (short-term: nitrogen flushing; long-term: coating of the tank bottom or the entire tank),
- visual enhancement through repainting of the tank, underframe and bogies.
Wagon reconstruction and modification
Wagon modifications may arise from changes to applicable standards or regulations, or may be initiated directly by the customer (rolling stock owner or user). We carry out comprehensive wagon reconstructions and adaptations of underframes and tanks based on documentation provided by the customer. In addition, we offer the development of modification concepts as well as the preparation of the corresponding technical documentation by our technologists and design engineers, for subsequent verification and approval by ECM 2.
Thanks to our extensive experience, we are also a reliable and competent partner for wagon reconstruction as well as rebuilding following derailments. Upon customer request, we can, among others, carry out internal tank coatings, convert bottom-discharge tank wagons to top-discharge only, restore load‑bearing underframe parts, replace tanks on the underframe etc.
Wagon component refurbishment
We are well aware of how important it is to keep workshop downtimes as short as possible. For this reason, we carry out the refurbishment of most components dismantled from wagons in-house. In this way, we avoid waiting times related to shipment and return of refurbished parts. In addition, we offer the refurbishment of components delivered to us as loose individual items.
